Though my dad lost his battle with brain cancer, my mom is living proof of how much of a difference these types of events and the money they raise make. She is a 10+ year advanced breast cancer survivor. Along with that, it was the Cancer Society volunteers that made it possible for my mom and others receiving daily treatment to get to and from their out-of-town chemo and radiation appointments thanks to men and women who voluntarily drive the vans and cars that get them there. This money really does make a difference in not only finding treatments and cures but also in making the lives of patients and their families a little easier during their fight. I will be donating now :)

Yeah I think you have to look at your own actions before jumping on someone else for something. I have two kids so every day I'm learning to have more patience, listen and also let my son work things out more (two boys, one is 4 months the other is almost three). It's hard because it's easier just to do things your way, and not always think about how it affects others. My son slows me down and makes me notice (I use to just speed through life), he makes me think more about my actions and also what I'm teaching him. I want my boys to be gentleman and also to be kind and considerate of others. I just hope others do the same for my sons when they are older x

My mom and dad never seize to amaze me on a constant basis. My first tattoo was the first 6 notes the Guatemala national anthem (that's were I was born) and when I told my mom she just said, "Does your father know?"...When my dad finally saw it, he didn't say a thing, but instead started singing the national anthem with a slight smile on his face.

When my father died it was a couple of months later that I had a very real dream that he called to say he was fine. Out of hundreds of dreams about him before and since then, it was the only one in which he was dead -- he`s alive and everything is the way it used to be in all the other dreams I have of him. When I asked him why he was calling from there (`there` being heaven or wherever it is that dead people hang) he said he just wanted me to know that he was fine and happy and that we didn`t need to worry. I woke up feeling at peace and like I had some sort of closure for the first time since he slipped into his coma before he died and I have felt it ever since. It really will come. xx
